My favourite blushers

Saturday, 1 December 2018

I admit I am a bit of a blusher and highlighter hoarder. Especially blusher because there are so many gorgeous shades and I must have them all. Corals, peaches, mauves, baby pinks, fuchsias, you name it. At the moment my collection has been narrowed down to a meagre five.

I've featured my pasty arm below with all five swatches - don't judge my swatching, I'm far from a professional. You'll notice some are way more pigmented than others, so if you buy them make sure you don't go too heavy handed or you might end up looking like Coco the Clown. Trust me, I've been there. It's not a good time.

Mineralize Blush in the shade Sweet Enough by MAC Cosmetics
This blush is in the most beautiful mauve shade. It gives a perfect flush to the cheeks. I use this like a bronzer sometimes and take it up the temples, the top of the forehead and under my jawline with a light hand. It's pink but not pinky pink, y'know?

This is the cutest pink blush. It's girly and sweet and looks best on the apples of the cheeks. It pops nicely on my pale af skin. It's not massively pigmented so it's easy to build up or leave subtle depending on how you like it.

Dusk is a similar shade to MAC's Sweet Enough in that it has a mauve-brown tone to it, except I'd say Dusk is a little more orangey (in a good way). I use the teeniest tiniest amount of this as it can be very intense with it being a highly pigmented cream. It blends out great though and is one of those shades that would look great on most, if not all, skin tones.

This is a super vibrant shimmery pink. It doesn't come out overly shimmery on the skin but it does add a nice sheen. If you take it up to your temples it gives quite a pretty cheekbone highlight. If you're curious about the H&M blushers (there are like, a million shades) check out Tati Westbrook's video.

This is an intense rich mauve shade with a slight shimmer so a light hand is needed. As you can see in the swatch, it goes on incredibly opaque but it does blend out nicely if you take a small amount on a fluffy brush. I feel this would be a gorgeous shade for dark skin.

Honourable mentions include Dream Matte Blush in the shade Flirty Pink by Maybelline (featured here) and True Match Face Blush in the shade Sandalwood Pink by L'oreal Paris. I don't own these anymore but they're very lovely.

What are your favourite blushers?
