Talking nature, clothes, & haircare

Hi!

So... bit hot, init?

I think I'm coping fairly well. Work is a beast in this weather but when I come home I love taking refreshing cool showers and putting a breezy dress on to spend time in the garden and relax. Our lavender has gone mad this year, one of the pots has doubled in size. The bees are back and lapping it up (pictured above). I have some wildflowers growing in a trough (you can see them in the background) but they've not flowered yet.

The garden is such a nice place to be in the summer. Butterflies, birds, and bees everywhere.

I have recently reorganised my wardrobe - I've put even more winter stuff away (was clinging onto a few woolly cardigans and sweatshirts for no apparent reason) and added loads of swishy, floaty things perfect for this British summer.

I like patterns, can you tell?

I've had to do a bit of a clothing cull this year because I've put a lot of weight on since last summer and it turned out that none of my old summer stuff fit me anymore. I wasn't left with much after I donated two bin bags full, so I had to go shopping and replace a couple of things.

Wrap dresses are really flattering on my pear shape, so I have three of those and a wrap top. I'm also opting for longer tunic-style tops and t-shirts now to wear with my leggings. It's been tough having to get rid of so many beautiful pieces of clothing (I was sad to wave off a few Fat Face items) but I don't want a wardrobe full of things that might fit me one day if I lose weight, it would just make me depressed. Kind of just want to dress for the body I have, even if it's a hard bod to love.

I bought some new shampoo at the weekend. Tired of using rubbish that doesn't do my hair any favours. I'm trying out the OGX Hydrate + Defrizz Kukui Oil shampoo and conditioner because I have very thick and frizzy hair that goes full on Monica Geller in the humidity. So far I like it - it feels so luxurious when I lather it up. I've also gone back to using a microfibre towel for my hair (even though it drives me crackers because the one I have doesn't soak up any water). Supposedly they're a million times better for your locks, but a normal towel is just quicker, y'know?

Ooh ehh, a selfie.

I'm considering growing out the colour in my hair, so I want to look after my hair while it's in this awkward visible-roots-ratty-ends-clearly-haven't-had-a-good-cut-in-months look. I don't want to have to dye it to make it look nice again. However, it does need a serious trim.

This was a loooooong post.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your week.

Kate
